The first star of the Little House on the Prairie reboot series has been announced!
Back in January, it was revealed that Netflix is rebooting the beloved series, which was based on Laura Ingalls Wilder‘s books. The original series, which aired in the ’70s and ’80s, starred Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert.
On Friday (May 2), Variety revealed that Alice Halsey will be taking on the role of Laura Ingalls in the reboot.

The young actress confirmed her casting on Instagram, writing, “I love all of the Little House books so much, and I’m so excited and grateful to get to bring Laura to life! Thank you so much to the Little House creative team for putting your faith in me.”
The logline for the Little House reboot states, “Part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West, this fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic semi-autobiographical ‘Little House’ books offers a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier.”
